Berlin Hotel - Hotel Ibis Berlin Ostbahnhof
The Ibis Berlin Ostbahnhof hotel is pleasantly located beside the river Spree, only 150 m from the railway station. It has 242 airconditioned rooms, including 14 for guests with limited mobility. As all the Ibis, this Berlin hotel offers the same dependable characteristics one expects from the chain: clean rooms, good beds, functional furniture, strong and abundant hot water. The bed was queen sized — an unusual and very pleasant bonus and the staff is extra accommodating. It is clean, comfortable and the staff all speak a multitude of languages.
This Berlin hotel, also features undercover pay parking and a bar open 24 hours. Guests on a business trip will appreciate the WiFi wireless Internet connection and there is a tennis court available a few kilometres from the hotel.
The best thing it's got going for it is it's a fairly new building, so everything looks new, it's comfy, a tad small, and cheap. Ideal if visiting Berlin as a tourist on a budget. The room was simply furnished, but clean and comfortable, and the bathroom was rather small (but not a problem). There is free internet access in the reception which is very handy. The bar is also a nice area to chill in the evenings and there is a small menu of barsnacks if you get puckish (e.g. chicken wings etc.)
The rooms are small but have all the amenities one would need. It is in a very quiet location. One does not hear the traffic on the street. The lobby is small, but clean and there is a lobby bar also. Breakfast is not included in the rate, I paid 44 euros a night, and that can be for one or two persons. From the Ostbahnhof, it is less that five minutes by S-Bahn to Alexanderplatz and another ten minutes to the city centre. This hotel is a great find. I recommend it unconditionally.
